Dr. Garima Poddar, completed her graduation from Bharati Vidyapeeth Dental College and Hospital, Pune, India in 2005. She has received fellowship from the prestigious International college of dentists. She practices microscope enhanced dentistry routinely at her center. She has a clinical experience of 16 years.

At present, she is a senior consultant in the dental department of Shanti Memorial Super Specialty Hospital, Cuttack, Odisha and is a faculty at Universitat Jaume I (UJI), Spain for Diploma in endodontics program.

She is a certified silver member of Style Italiano Endodontics.

She is a key opinion leader for Micro mega (France), Meta Biomed (Korea), Bombay Dental & Surgical Pvt. Ltd. (India).

Recently she was declared winner of Famdent Outstanding dentist of the year award for 2021, and also highly commended outstanding dentist in 2022. She also won, Famdent special jury award in the category of outstanding dentist of the year for 2019.

She has delivered keynote lectures at many reputed national and international platforms. She has presented papers in various conferences at state, national and international level and also contributed to a book- Clinical atlas of retreatment in endodontics.

She has keen interest in sharing her endodontic experiences, with budding dentists. Her favorite topics include modern root canal treatment, rubber dam isolation techniques and magnification.

Workshop title – Beginner’s guide to Microscope

There are multiple benefits of using a dental microscope in dentistry. Use of a dental operating microscope is immensely helpful in visualizing fine details within our patient’s mouths and thus of great value to work with a high degree of accuracy. While doing endodontic treatment also, a microscope provides with deeper depth of focus and good illumination which acts as a boon during the procedures. This workshop would act as a guide to beginners who want to inculcate microscopes in their practice. The workshop participants would learn how to use a microscope, posture and correct seating positions while working with a dental operating microscope and also how to adjust the focus, depth of focus and other nuances of using a microscope.

Endodontics in the past was based more on feel and less on sight.  Earlier, radiographs and tactile sensation were the key tools utilized to perform root canal treatment procedures and other endodontic surgical procedures. With time there has been advancement in the field of magnification which has been immensely helpful in both endodontic treatment and retreatment. Specially while performing a retreatment procedure, magnification and good illumination, plays a very vital role. It makes even many complicated retreatment procedures convenient to perform. This presentation emphasizes upon the role of magnification in predictable endodontics and how we could use magnification in various retreatment cases in endodontics.
